We're Pregnant!!!
We’re pregnant, we’re pregnant! Oh my, those words were so scary to say. I had always dreamed of the day I would find out I was pregnant, it was going to be exciting, scary but magical. We would already be married and possibly living in our forever home just waiting for a baby to arrive. Needless to say that’s not how our story goes.
Throughout my life I have had some reproductive issues, ranging from not being able to take birth control due to my body basically rejecting it, having over 10 uterine polyps on more than one occasion that needed to be surgically removed and having miscarriages. I see the very best doctors and was told that I most likely would not be able to conceive naturally.
Well after 8 years together we conceived naturally! I truly believe God gives you what you need not only what you want. In the midst of planning a big black tie wedding we find out we are going to have a baby 2 weeks after our scheduled wedding date. Talk about changing things up!
So how did I find out? On the weekend of July 9th, Brooke and I were at my parents shore house in North Wildwood, NJ. We were relaxing, drinking doing the normal weekend party things one does when they don’t have children. I wasn’t having any particular signs of pregnancy but I was extremely dizzy. I thought maybe I’m dehydrated, so I chugged a lot of water. Then it hit me, I’m 8 days late. This to me wasn’t a shock. My period has been known to come a week early or a week late.
So off Brooke and I venture to the dollar store, yes the dollar store. For people who have taken many pregnancy tests, they know that the dollar store brand is exactly the same as a $30 First Response test from CVS. I buy a test and head home. When we get home we both eat dinner and pass out still in our bathing suits. I wake up at 11 pm and head to the restroom to shower and get this test over with. Now when testing for pregnancy you normally want to use your first morning urine (FMU). This has a rich supply of the pregnancy hormone to give a better test result.
I can remember it like yesterday, I turn the shower on, take the test, get changed, turn around and BAM! 2 pink lines, clear as day and dark as the night sky. Well I immediately said “no fucking way.” I run out of the bathroom and show it to Brooke, who looks and says “no way, this is a dollar store test let’s get a real one.” Off we go to CVS where I buy $50 of First Response tests, pink lines and digital. Took all but one that night and every one came out positive. I woke up the next morning, took the digital and that one came out positive too.

I immediately called Rob to let him know the exciting yet scary news. He was to my surprise thrilled! Yes it didn’t come at the best time, literally 7 months before our planned wedding day but none the less it happened. To know that it actually happened was just amazing. We waited to get into our 2nd trimester to tell people. After 3 doctors’ appointments, 3 ultrasounds and one trip to the ER we were over the hump and Baby Carroll was on its way!
Baby Carroll due March 9, 2018! We love you so much and can’t wait to meet you!
